We all know which products to use on our skin and in which order, but do we do the same with our hair? Here are our three steps to ensuring you apply products in the right order:
Apply a leave-in conditioner or mask to damp hair, locking in moisture. Then, use formulas like styling creams or anything lotion-like in texture (Including straightening balms or curl-enhancing creams).
Time for applying lighter products such as shine serum, followed by mousse. If you’re going to use a hairdryer, hair straighteners or any type of heat styling, now is also the time for a heat-protecting product.
Lastly, finish off with some hair spray – If you’re feeling fancy, spritz some hair perfume as a final touch.

With summer fast approaching, gym bods will be using the swimming pool to cool off as much as sweating it out while exercising on the treadmill, classes or lifting weights. And its not just the health conscious individuals that love to swim, its fun for everyone, including mums with their young’uns!
Chlorine is renowned for drying out our hair, so we’ve put together a few tips to help your mane while swimming:
- Wet your hair before jumping in the pool – your hair cuticle will absorb the fresh water allowing less room for chlorine water damage.
- Once you’ve had your swim, wash your hair with clarifying shampoo such as Phytoplage Rehydrating Shampoo Hair and Body £13.50. This delicate and creamy hair and body wash gently eliminates salt, sand and chlorine deposits. Hair regains its suppleness and shine.
- Use a rich, emollient conditioner after shampooing to counteract some of the drying after-effects of chlorine. Leave it in for a minimum of two minutes before you rinse out to ensure your hair locks in as much moisture as possible! We love PhytoBaume Hydration Conditioner £14.50
- Each week use a deep-conditioning treatment can give your hair an extra boost of moisture. Why not try Phytojoba Intense Hydrating Mask £24.50

As we tell our clients time and time again, visit us or your hairdresser regularly to trim your hair in order to keep it healthy, and for it to grow. However, this isn’t the only advice we give. See below for some more tips on how to make your hair grow faster, and to maintain a nourishing shine.
- Eat lots of protein, and drink plenty of water
Did you know the hair shaft is made of keratin, which is a type of protein? A diet high in protein and amino acids (the building blocks of protein) will give your body what it needs to produce new keratin, which in turn should speed up the rate in which your hair grows. Staying hydrated and drinking plenty of water will help your hair and scalp from drying out.
- Don’t wash your hair every day
Washing your hair every day is sure to dry out your hair so it then produces more oil. Washing your hair two times a week will ensure it is healthy, strong, smooth and soft! It may take a few weeks for your hair to adjust to the change – it may be a bit greasy when overcompensating for all the dryness you used to put it through,
- Stay away from the heat
Save styling for special occasions – leave the curling tongs, straighteners and blow drying your hair as much as you can. Heat is one of the fastest ways to damage your hair and destroy its texture so air dry as much you can!
- Brush your hair less
Brushing strains your hair, so the more you brush, the more hair you break. When you do brush your hair, ensure you do small strokes at the bottom, and then gradually get higher towards the root. This is the most efficient way to remove tangles without creating more.
- Massage your scalp
Massaging your scalp a few minutes a day can help to stimulate blood flow, which brings important nutrients to your hair follicles. This in turn can stimulate growth.
Chanel is sure to start a new hair trend after flaunting a superb futuristic short bob at Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2015/2016 show on Tuesday (July 7) in Paris, France.
The wigs used were more like ‘hair hats’ according to hairstylist Sam McKnight because they were placed like hats on top of the models’ natural hair, with some of their actual hair showing.
“Under the wig, the model’s hair was tightly swept up on top to give a little height on the crown, exaggerating the angle of the cut toward the face,” says McKnight. “I also left a visible little triangle of the front hairline to soften the effect.”
Kendall Jenner also rocked the new style while there “Of course I said yes #HauteCouture,” the 19-year-old model captioned along with a pic of herself and Karl Lagerfeld at the show.
