L’Oréal Paris launches campaign with hijab-wearing model

L’Oréal Paris has made history by casting beauty blogger Amena Khan as the first hijab-wearing model in their latest hair campaign.

Amena, 34, from Leicester, proudly flaunts her beautiful head scarf saying “Whether or not your hair’s on display doesn’t affect how much you care about it”. Amena is amongst other male and female UK influencers, including Dougie from McFly, and model Neelam Gill, who promote the new L’Oréal product Elvive.

Cheryl Cole, ex Girls Aloud singer, also features in the advert after being out of limelight for around two months, showing off her gorgeous long glossy tresses.

Writing on Instagram, Amena said:

“A game changing new campaign!!! 👏🏽❤️ So… lately I’ve had a complex relationship with my hair feeling lacklustre. When I take off my scarf, I want my hair to be more radiant – don’t we all?”

Ferne McCann’s new blonde locks

We are loving Ferne’s new hair colour – she’s been rocking the brunette look for a while now, but decided it was time for change.

TOWIE star Ferne, who recently welcomed her daughter Sunday into the world, revealed her new hair colour on Instagram to her 1.9 million followers to which she got a hugely positive response – obvs. The colour is beautiful!

Her caption read ‘Fancied A Change…let’s see who has more fun 💁🏼🙅🏽’ and also thanked those behind the scenes:

‘A massive thankyou to @jameswsilk who done this unbelievable colour change + @easilockshair extensions.

‘Babes you are so talented’.

Did Prince William pay £180 for a haircut?

We are certain he can afford it, but did Prince William pay nearly £200 for a buzz cut?

A buzz cut is a short style including the crew cut, butch cut, flattop and ivy league, used by clippers. However, Prince William’s hair was reportedly cut using the “scissor over comb” freehand technique by Kate Middleton’s long-time hairdresser Richard Ward.

The Political Correspondent from The Daily Mail tweeted what a source had told her ‘The Duke is very amused that anyone thinks he has enough hair to justify that kind of money’. A very funny response we think. Go Prince William!

We are all aware the cold weather takes its toll on our locks, but do you know what products to use to help keep your hair hydrated and nourished during the winter?

Firstly, a good moisturising shampoo and conditioner is key. We love Phytojoba Shampoo, a rich and gentle product, with extreme moisturising properties reinforcing your hair’s natural protection system, preserving its integrity. Follow on with Phyto Phtobaume Hydration Express Conditioner which cares for weak and damaged hair. Its reconstructive formula works to restore hair fibre deep within to reveal hair that shines with renewed health and vitality.

The Phytoelixir Intense Nutrition Mask is an indulgent yet lightweight cream formula that utilises botanical ingredients and essential oils to moisturise and invigorate hair. You can use this up to twice a week.

Ariana Grande’s new look

It seems Ariana Grande likes change. She went from brunette to grey very recently – which we LOVE. She posted a photo on Instagram with pretty hearts round her head, clarifying that her new hair colour was, in fact, grey (and not a pink shade thanks to the Snapchat filter).

Then just before Halloween, she posted a picture on Instagram again, but this time with a fringe! Could it be a wig? Or has she had the chop? Either way, she looks fab. We can’t wait to see what’s next!

Cambridge scientist reveals the perfect way to dry your hair – with minimal damage

Cambridge academic Dr Tim Moore has dedicated his life studying what you should and shouldn’t do when washing and drying your hair. Here’s a round up of his tips and advice:

  • Don’t go to bed with your hair wet – it could cause split ends
  • Letting your hair dry naturally is more damaging than blow-drying
  • Never brush your hair when wet – use a comb
  • Towel dry your hair before drying – gently scrunch with a towel
  • Only use straighteners or curling tongs on completely dry hair
